Geraldine Brooks, whose writing career has included fiction, nonfiction, and journalism, won the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for her second novel, March. Her most recent historical novel, Horse, was hailed last year in The Washington Post as “a sweeping tale that uses the true story of a famous 19th-century racehorse to explore the roots and legacy of enslavement,” among many other positive reviews.
