“Voices United” – A Multi-Sensory Celebration of Urban Life, Music, and Political Expression

Celebrate Labor Day weekend with a powerful convergence of art, spoken word, and live jazz at the iconic Williamsburg Music Center, located at 367 Bedford Ave (corner of S 5th St), Brooklyn, NY 11211. This Urban Individualists event is organized by curator and artist Helene Ruiz, the founder of the multicultural artists collective The Urban Individualists, in collaboration with Gerry Eastman, owner and founder of the Williamsburg Music Center. Together, they bring forth an experience that honors a variety of artistic voices.

Helene Ruiz along with her assistant, Ms. Naomi Cordova will curate the exhibition that will feature visual artworks by a dynamic group of artists whose works are NYC/Urban, Music-Inspired, and Human Rights and Politically Charged—capturing the heartbeats, struggles, and rhythms of contemporary life. This will include some of the collective members and guest artists.

Live poetry performances will accompany the visual pieces, creating a rich, layered evening of multidisciplinary expression. William Washington and Monica Hill and invited guest poets will co-curate the poetry session.

All visual artworks will be available for sale throughout the weekend, with 30% of proceeds donated to support the Williamsburg Music Center.
