The Pete Rodriguez Latin Jazz Project at Bar Bayeux

Brooklyn, NY– Bar Bayeux presents the Pete Rodríguez Latin Jazz Project on Saturday, July 5, 2025, 8:00 & 9:30pm.
Join us at Bar Bayeux for an electrifying evening of original music with The Pete Rodríguez Latin Jazz Project. Rodríguez’s latest release, I’m Pete Rodríguez, Vol. 1, was recently recognized as one of the Best of 2024 by both The New York City Jazz Record and Puerto Rico’s Fundación Nacional para la Cultura Popular. The powerhouse lineup features Rodríguez on trumpet, Jon Beshay on woodwinds, Esteban Castro on piano, Raul Reyes on bass, Koleby Royston on drums, and Robert Quintero on Latin percussion.
Rodríguez—son of salsa icon Pete “El Conde” Rodríguez and godson of Fania Records bandleader Johnny Pacheco—has been featured in The New York Times, DownBeat, JazzTimes, Jazziz, Latin Jazz Network, and more. As a bandleader, he blends his wide-ranging musical upbringing—from growing up amid Latin music legends and the rise of hip hop in the Bronx, to refining his technique as a classical trumpeter in Puerto Rico— to create his own brand of dynamic Latin and straight-ahead jazz. The result is music that has been described as “not only instrumentally ferocious, but texturally rich and at times, profoundly intimate.” (DownBeat Magazine) His music demonstrates his aptitude for modern Afro-Cuban jazz and hard-driving post-bop jazz, as much as melodic Latin variants and R&B-tinged grooves. Catch two exciting sets at 8:00 PM and 9:30 PM, NO COVER. This night of bold, genre-blending original music is not to be missed!
