The Oko Table: Harvest Feast – A Farm-to-table Fundraiser for Oko Farms
The Oko Table: Harvest Feast is farm to table dinner that is part of a series of fundraiser dinners for Oko Farms, a Brooklyn-based non-profit urban farm. Harvest Feast is a celebration of the resilient spirit of urban agriculture. The 2-hour dinner features a menu carefully designed by Yemi Amu, founder and director of Oko Farms who began her journey as a chef and food educator. It showcases the fresh produce from our Brooklyn-based aquaponics farm, including our ethically-raised carp. Each dish embodies the potential of urban farming to tackle rising food security issues and the ongoing climate crisis. Diners will enjoy a 3-course meal served family-style, play a fun trivia game and enjoy great music. The evening is generously hosted by Honey’s, a cocktail bar and multi-dimensional event space in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
We invite you to The Oko Table, where you can savor the bounty of our aquaponics farm, appreciate the richness of urban agriculture, and be part of the movement to increase food security for New York City residents.
The Oko Table is a monthly farm-to-table fundraiser, blending communal dining, music, conversation, and fun activities that aim to deepen our appreciation for New York City’s local food culture, urban agriculture, local fisheries, urban ecology, and raise money to support Oko Farm’s initiatives. Each monthly dinner focuses on a unique theme and showcases delicious food and drinks crafted from Oko Farms’ produce.
Oko Farms is an Aquaponics Farm and Education non-profit located in Brooklyn, New York. Since 2013, we’ve operated NYC’s only outdoor aquatic (and publicly accessible) farm that cultivates a variety of vegetables and herbs alongside freshwater fish in a sustainable recirculating ecosystem. By utilizing aquaponics we bring organically grown, local and affordable freshwater fish and vegetables to New York City residents.
Oko Urban Farms is dedicated to both increasing food security for New York City residents and the promotion of ecological and accessible food cultivation practices. We utilize aquaponics because it provides an adaptable farming method to cultivate both fish and vegetables together in small urban spaces while saving water. Our mission is to provide a sustainable source of locally-raised protein (fish) and vegetables to New York City residents while increasing the number of people with the knowledge and skills to practice aquaponics.
Proceeds from the dinner series supports all of Oko Farms’ urban farming initiatives including food production, food donation to community fridges and education. To learn more about Oko Farms please visit www.okofarms.org.
