“The Human Layer” gallery opening at Brooklyn Art Haus

Brooklyn Art Haus proudly presents a lineup of prominent visual artists responding to the climate crisis just in time for Earth Day: the fury, the beauty, and the resilience. “The Human Layer” refers to an epoch termed by numerous scientists as the layer above the Earth’s crust. As humans continue to develop the face of the Earth, an indelible imprint finds permanence through ceaseless interference. As a brush grazes the face of a canvas, so does each and every footprint we take, day by day, year by year, century by century.
Featured artists include Ross Carvill, Max Gordon, Julia Forrest, Nia, Tslil Tsemet, Leia Tyebje. Works by these artists respond to evolving landscapes, high moments of social activism, and the relocation of humans, as an attempt to expand and shift perceptions of the onlooker. Viewers are welcomes to participate in the exhibition by adding their own wisdom and illustrations to form their own collective response.
Viewing hours for the BAH Gallery are from 11am-10pm Tuesday-Sunday at 24 Marcy Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11211. Entry is free and bookings are encouraged but not required.
