Studio Art: Patterns of Africa Fashion
1–6 p.m.
Education Studio, 1st Floor
Explore rich traditions of patterns and textiles in Africa Fashion, and then make your own! Tour the special exhibition with curators Ernestine White-Mifetu and Annissa Malvoisin. Learn about techniques and materials, such as cowrie shells and wax resist, seen in the fabrics and garments. Then, head to the studio, where artist and educator Ellen Brown will teach block-printing skills that you can use to create motifs inspired by the fashions on view. Add your original designs and embellishments to a bag to take home.
Tickets are $120 and include admission to Africa Fashion. Member tickets are $100. Not a Member? Join today!
