Roz Lord Opening Reception
Alanna Miller is pleased to announce our next exhibition Roz Lord, opening Friday, January 13, 2023, from 6-8pm.
It is artist Roz Lord’s first time showing with the gallery and will feature her popular Bat Series, as well as new works from her Thinking Series.
Roz Lord paints playful imagery with an intimacy and textural quality that is undeniably reminiscent of Phillip Guston. Personal reflections of Lord’s inner world flicker on the surface and become palpable in her bats and thinking heads. These lovable characters become the embodiment of Lord’s psyche, and through fleshy acrylic paint their universal sentiments are made available for the viewer to connect with.
Roz Lord’s Bat Series has become a darling in the global art market since the artist first showed them in 2020. Lord has shown them in exhibitions within the US, as well as internationally in Germany and Spain. Lord’s Thinking Series builds on the artist’s desire to look inward and explore her process — she is thinking about painting and painting about thinking.
