Resounding Silents Launches Live-Scored Silent Film Series at Brooklyn Art Haus

Conceived in the summer of 2023 by performer/composer Anthime Miller and Brooklyn Art Haus film curator/producer Kate Stahl, Resounding Silents is a groundbreaking series where we take iconic silent films and breathe new life into them with new, original musical scores, performed live, creating an immersive and unforgettable experience for the audience.

Drawn from our ever growing and changing ensemble of musicians, each film will feature a different “Chef” – a new artist responsible for the composition/improvisation of the piece and leading the ensemble.

The scores for some films will be more formally composed, some more improvised, all altogether original.

The 2024 season of classic silent films will kick off with Fritz Lang’s masterpiece METROPOLIS on February 23rd @ 7:30 PM & February 24th @ 2:00 PM with an original score by Nicholas ‘Bread” Rastegar and Anthime Miller.

The season continues with Carl Theodor Dreyer’s THE PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC in April, Harry O. Hoyt’s THE LOST WORLD in June, Buster Keaton’s THE GENERAL in August, and Robert Wiene’s THE CABINET OF DR CALIGARI in October.
