Join Remote Daily for an in-person gathering with live music, drinks, mindfulness and a guest interview with award-winning Japanese illustrator Yuko Shimizu. The SALON will be hosted at Carroll Hall in the heart of Bushwick in Brooklyn, NY.

The night will feature an in depth look into Yuko’s work with an interview moderated by Felix Zeltner, live music with Eleanor Dubinsky and Dario Acosta Teich, mindfulness led by meditation expert Keris Timol, and audience Q+A. Guests are invited to explore the Carroll Hall garden and enjoy drinks and conversation after the show. This event is donation based (we recommend $1-$10+) but space is limited so we encourage reserving your spot in advance!

Yuko Shimizu is a multi-award-winning Japanese illustrator based in New York City, Shimizu is an instructor at The School of Visual Arts and has almost 20 years of experience illustrating. Her work includes multiple disciplines from DC Comic covers (Sandman the Dream Hunters, The Unwritten, Batman), Criterion Collection DVD jackets (Godzilla box set), and advertising for Apple, Nike and Pepsi. Additionally she has collaborated with the Smithsonian Museum and Library of Congress. Shimizu is a two-time Hugo Award nominee and was recently awarded the Caldecott Honor, one of the highest awards for picture books, for her work on the children’s book The Cat Man of Aleppo (Penguin, 2020).
