Private party is an immersive performance that devolves into mutiny. It is a satire about how the process of trying to create in New York has become a spectacle itself. It’s a variety show that never really starts, but leaves you on the edge of your seat. You will cringe, you will laugh, you won’t know what is real or scripted, and you’ll watch the cast descend into a drunken absurdist fever dream (we hope you’ll join in). Multiple rooms of mischief, debauchery, and CAKE! Experience a night that does the impossible and turns artistic nightmares into a fun, boozy, exclusive, immersive private bash that’s fun for everyone who likes to party.

After a sold out run at The Public Theater as part of the Devised Theater Working Group earlier this year, Private Party is back for three encore performances March 20, 21, 22 at 7:30 pm at We Are Here in Bushwick. Running around 90 mins, it’s a waiting game, a protest, a birthday, a funeral and a tax write-off. It’s illegal in six different states, it’ll make you look five pounds thinner and it’ll defund the NEA. There will be two bars, a tattoo station, and a pre-roll patio!

Join One Whale’s Tale and a crew of taste makers, downtown legends, pop stars,  formerly incarcerated geniuses, and at least one nepo baby as they fight for their lives against the American non-for-profit industry. This is One Whale’s Tale first solo production – no non-profits, no red tape. Ticket sales and concessions go directly to paying cool artists fair wages so plz drink the bar dry. Show is 90 minutes, bar is open late!

Cake, beer, wine, liquor & crudités… enough to make you stumble onto the street and wonder wtf you were just a part of.” – Mayor Eric Adams (probably?)
