Brooklyn Opening of In the Works

In the Works offers an innovative, two-story play space transforming familiar scaffolding structures into a safe and colorful landscape for climbing, sliding, and imaginative exploration. This exhibition reimagines urban construction sites as spaces for curiosity and play, offering children ages 2 and up the chance to engage in activities usually off-limits in their everyday surroundings. Designed by NYC-based artists Yeju & Chat (Yeju Choi and Chat Travieso), the installation is a visually striking environment that blends scaffolding components and other common construction materials. Within this evolving structure, young visitors can climb up, crawl through, slide down, and discover hidden nooks, all while developing spatial awareness, creativity, and a deeper sense of connection to their urban surroundings.

To celebrate the exhibition’s opening, artists Yeju & Chat will be at Brooklyn Children’s Museum on opening day to engage with families and share insights into the creation of this dynamic play environment, as well as facilitating a scavenger hunt to discover and notice different materials.

Throughout its run, In the Works will continue to evolve with workshops designed for families to collaboratively contribute to the installation’s design.
