On April 23rd, at 7 PM121 Pierrepont St., First Unitarian Brooklyn will host an informational session to explain the Medical Debt Forgiveness Project. We will inform organizations about how their houses of worship and community groups can support this initiative. Congregations and community groups may be inspired to take action and drive change during this political crisis, just as we have done.
First Unitarian is hosting this event at the request of the Brooklyn Heights Interfaith Clergy Association, which includes imams, ministers, pastors, priests, and rabbis. These faith communities seek to learn more about First U’s efforts to address the crippling effect of medical debt on families.
We are pleased to announce that these speakers will be present to share information:
Marisa A. Clemente, Vice President of Philanthropy at UNDUE Medical Debt, will attend the event to answer questions. UNDUE has forgiven over $15 billion, relieving debt for over 9.85 million people. Rose Gasner, a consultant for UNDUE, will share insights on another outstanding resource for our congregations. DollarFor.org helps patients have their hospital bills forgiven.
