The NYC Municipal Archives presents a virtual event on on Tuesday, January 24^th from 1-2pm: Join us for  Lunch & Learn: How Manhattan’s Cityscape Was Remade After WWII, transforming it into both a world city and one mired in urban crisis. The recent opening of Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center paid tribute to San Juan Hill, the community that was razed to make way for this cultural landmark back in the late 1950’s. But how did iconic projects like Lincoln Square actually come to be? Cultural historian Samuel Zipp, author of Manhattan Projects: The Rise and Fall of Urban Renewal in Cold War New York, will offer insights and forgotten stories that augment the conventional histories of urban renewal.  FREE.
