Self Portrait as The Fall of Man

‘Littered Existence’ is the inaugural exhibition by curator Ivy Brown at The Watermark, this show features work by the artist Sam Tufnell who is known for his unique approach to sculpture and mixed media. Tufnell’s work involves everyday objects to crate thought-provoking and innovative pieces of art including garbage bags, leaves, bottles, flowers, self-portraits, even gnomes. The work is characterized by its inventiveness that challenge, our assumptions and encourage us to think more deeply about the world around us. In many ways, life today can be seen as ‘littered’ with all sorts of issues and problems, from environmental pollution and social inequality to political turmoil and personal struggles. Despite these challenges, we must still find a way to exist and navigate our lives.
