LAURA HICKLI (Art Pop)
Sounds like: Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Weyes Blood
Laura Hickli (Mohkínstsis/Calgary) is an internationally touring progressive art pop songstress known for her tightly arranged dreamy soundscapes, exquisite vocals, evocative lyrics, and emotionally powerful performances. The classically trained pianist was homeschooled in a conspiracy-laden religious household where she honed her ability to reflect deeply felt emotions through dynamic, textured, and technical songwriting and production.
During the tour of her latest record ‘Both Feet In The World, At Least I Can Stand,’ (North Pole Records) Laura and her band suffered a serious motor vehicle accident that left Laura with PTSD and a traumatic head injury. After nearly a year in recovery, she emerges with gripping and exceedingly personal new music birthed during her chaotic grieving process.
Hickli has a knack for creating art out of life’s ebbs and offering a small gift of resilience to the returning tides. A performer in several award-winning projects, Hickli’s personal works continue to receive radio play on CBC, BBC+, Top Album of the Year awards, and accolades from The Big Takeover, Cups N Cakes and more.
Currently preparing to record her new album ‘stranger to myself’ at The National Music Centre and embark on a two-month international tour this summer, Hickli’s developing story offers a fresh and inviting look at what life can be, while carrying the foundations of her spellbindingly intimate, yet explosive brand of dark process-music.

DARIAN DONOVAN THOMAS (Otherworldly / Violin-Looping)
Composer, multi-instrumentalist, and interdisciplinary artist Darian Donovan Thomas was born in San Antonio, Texas and is currently based in Brooklyn, New York. He is interested in combining genres and mediums into a singular vocabulary that can express ideas about intersectionality (of medium and identity). Necessarily, he is interested in redacting all barriers to entry that have existed at the gates of any genre – this vocabulary of multiplicity will be intersectional, and therefore all-inclusive.
Lauded for his “bright, fresh and, in the best sense, innocent” musical approach by Steve Reich, and whose music is “a loud, sometimes overwhelming, yet always vivid, wash of harmony” (Vanessa Ague), announces his debut album A Room With Many Doors (August 2, 2024), a collection of songs that morph between hyper pop, noise, and ambient palettes, via New Amsterdam Records.

EMMROSE (Indie-Pop)
Emmrose is a Groover Obsessions Artist and signed to Secret Road Music for sync licensing. She records her music exclusively with Mike Abiuso at Behind the Curtains Media in Brooklyn, NY. Her debut EP Hopeless Romantics was released one week before New York City entered the covid lockdown of 2020, and with all of her shows canceled, she decided to perform weekly live streams from her home where she connected with thousands of kids in the world who took refuge with her music. Two years later, she has released 18 singles and her Album Hopeless Romantics won Best Pop Album in the 2020 WAM Awards. In May of 2020 her single “The Grass Was Greener” was placed on two Spotify Editorial playlists, a surprising event due to the fact that the entire recording and production had been done remotely during the COVID lockdown in NYC, with Emmrose in her Manhattan bedroom and her producer Mike Abiuso working in his Brooklyn apartment. The song “Five Months” is sync’d to the opening scene of the indie film “Searching for the Wave” and the single “Waitlisted” aired on MTV’s Teen Mom in November of 2021.
