Free Dance and Trashion (fashion from trash) workshops at Coney Island by Artichoke Dance Company

Artichoke Dance Company hosts free workshops leading up to Global Water Dances at Coney Island, a celebration using the arts to raise awareness about and advocate for access to clean safe water. The dance workshop runs 2:00-3:15 and teaches “The Story of Water” a participatory dance that is performed worldwide on Global Water Dances Day. The trashion, fashion from trash, workshop runs 3:30-5:00pm for participants to create their own costumes. All materials will be provided. Participants who learn the dance and create a costume can then perform The Story of Water with Artichoke Dance Company on Global Water Dances Day, June 14.
All workshops, held on both Saturdays May 31 and June 7, are free and at Coney Island Open Streets, located on West 22nd Street between Neptune Avenue and Coney Island Creek. Sign up here.
