Flatbush Book Club: The Overstory
Join Flatbush Library’s monthly book club for a discussion of Richard Power’s The Overstory.
Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, The Overstory is a novel about activism, resistance and the power of the natural world. Spanning from antebellum New York to the late 20th century Timber Wars of the Pacific Northwest, Powers’ novel follows nine remarkable strangers through interlocking stories. These strangers are all summoned by trees in different ways and ultimately come together in a last and violent stand to save the continent’s few remaining acres of virgin forest.
Copies of the book are available to check out from the library’s front desk. Masks and registration are encouraged. All are welcome.
