EAST COAST RIVALRY CONTINUES: Gotham FC vs. Washington Spirit

Gotham FC will face off against East Coast rival, the Washington Spirit, in the NWSL’s inaugural Rivalry Weekend at Sports Illustrated Stadium on Saturday, August 9 at 12:00 PM.

The match will celebrate the one-year anniversary of the club’s social impact program Keep Her in the Game (KHITG), presented by Dove, a research-backed initiative created to address the disproportionate rate at which adolescent girls opt out of sports. For every fan in the stands on August 9th, Gotham FC is donating $1 to their community partner, South Bronx United (SBU).

Highlights of the game include:

• Grammy Award-winning singer Ciara will light the torch in the pregame festivities, with youth wrestler Honor Smoke serving as torch bearer.
• In addition to leading the prematch coin toss, Dove partner and media personality Kylie Kelce will meet with hundreds of girls from the KHITG initiative who are attending the match and participating in a prematch demonstration of the program’s impact.
• The media and commerce brand Togethxr will cohost a prematch party for Gotham FC fans from 10-12 p.m. at the new Keepers restaurant, bar and coffee shop on Pete Higgins Blvd across the street from Sports Illustrated Stadium.

One of the top women’s soccer clubs in the world, Gotham FC started the 2025 NWSL season in March, with a star-packed roster that includes U.S. Women’s National Team players, World Cup winners, Olympic medalists and European and South American champions.
