In the 80’s and 90’s, David LaChapelle and other photographers challenged the heteronormative narrative through work that brought a gay sensibility into mainstream culture. Dive into LaChapelle’s influence and the story of queer representation in arts and culture in this lecture led by Drew Sawyer, Curator of Photography at the Brooklyn Museum, Matthew Leifheit, photographer and founder of MATTE magazine, and Justin J. Wee, a photographer whose recent self portraits illustrated ‘Are Men in Dresses Still Funny?” for the New York Times.
