Cypress Hills Local Development Celebration of Community Progress

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation’s (CHLDC) Celebration of Community Progress event will be held here in the neighborhood on Friday September 29th, 2023, at El Ambiente Restaurant Patio & Lounge 2896 Fulton St Brooklyn NY 11208 from 6:00pm-9:00pm. There will be food, drinks, dancing, and a live band. All proceeds benefit the Cesiah Toro Mullane Scholarship Fund or the Patricia Tanner Scholarship Fund.
Every year we host a Celebration of Community Progress event to celebrate the community and everything that we’ve accomplished and everything we aspire to make happen here in the neighborhood. We hope to see you on the 29th in order to celebrate all the wonderful growth and prosperity of our community.
In honor of the late Cesiah Toro Mullane who was the former President of the CHLDC Board of Directors, we offer a scholarship in her name to current college students from the Cypress Hills community. Cesiah was one of the founding members of CHLDC and a strong supporter of helping neighborhood residents further their education. She was a fierce community advocate/organizer and fought for educational reform, new schools, dual language instruction and investments and reforms in neighborhood public schools. Cesiah also led other community organizations and was a tireless volunteer. We are proud to continue her legacy of service and advocacy by supporting our students in their efforts to complete college! Your contribution will help to support the college related expenses of a high-achieving and financially needy student pursuing a 4 year Bachelor’s degree.
In addition, in honor of the late Patricia Ann Tanner who was one of the founders of the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation, we offer a scholarship fund in her name to financially needy students pursuing a 2 year Associate’s degree or Trade Certifications. As a founder of CHLDC, Pat had the vision and the fortitude to set our organization’s course for many decades. Her commitment to community service, giving young people opportunities and supporting neighborhood small businesses is an inspiration to us all. Your contribution will help financially needy students pursuing a 2 year Associate’s degree or Trade Certifications.
