Explore the “Art of Trees” at 6/15 Green as part of City of Forest Day! Art throughout the garden, live participatory drawing, cyanotype workshops, community conversations, and performances explore the ecological, historical, botanical, and cultural significance of trees, prompt mindful looking and listening to nature, and offer creative perspectives to consider our relationships with the surrounding environment. “Art of Trees” exhibition and program features artists Betsy Damon, Sika Foyer, Nathaniel Lieb, Christina Massey, Pierre Mercier-Puccio, Jasmine Murrell, Erin O’Flynn, Sarah Olson, Seema Lisa Pandya, Michael Pribich, Natsuki Takauji, Bea Wolert, Kasia Zurek-Doule, Tom Keough, Nathaniel Lieb. Backyard Utopias (artists Monika Wuhrer and Katerina Marcelja), and writer Khadija Kamara, curated by Alyssa Fridgen. Presentations will include: 11:00:Opening Remarks by Patricia Perone of NYC Parks & Forest For All, and Sheila McDevitt of 6/15 Green.11:30am: Listening to the Willow with artist Betsy Damon, 1:00pm: Rain Taal Sculpture Sound Activation by artist Seema Lisa Pandya with Sonic Performance by Neel Murgai, 3:00pm: Singing Brown Bodies, sculpture by artist Jasmine Murrell, and Performance by Jade “Dunya Shawty” Brown. Live Participatory Drawings of the Weeping Willow by Sarah Olson, Cyanotype Workshops, Celebrating Trees with Pierre Mercier-Puccio, “Trees & Herbs of the Caribbean” Community Conversations with Khadija Kamara, and Curator Tours by Alyssa Fridgen. This event is free and open to the public.

City of Forest Day is an annual day of activities across the city to raise awareness of the importance of the New York City urban forest, educate the public about the role trees play in a healthy city, engage people in tree stewardship, and/or build a sense of belonging to a community of others who care about trees. It is presented by Forest for All NYC in partnership with the Parks and Open Space Partners coalition and NYC Department of Parks and Recreation (NYC Parks).
