ABOUT: BRIC JazzFest, Brooklyn’s premier jazz festival, has announced the lineup of its highly anticipated 2023 season, scheduled to take place from October 19 to October 21.

Melanie Charles, a distinguished artist hailing from Brooklyn, is the guest artist curator for this season’s BRIC JazzFest. Charles, whose artistry seamlessly traverses jazz, soul, and R&B, brings her unique vision and experience to the festival’s programming.

Headliners include the captivating Georgia Anne Muldrow and the trailblazing Terrace Martin; masterful saxophonist Isaiah Collier;the mesmerizing Amina Claudine Myers Trio; a compelling collaboration between Melanie Charles and Orrin Evans; the genre-defying B. Cool-Aid; the innovative BIGYUKI; the enchanting Miki Yamanaka; and the virtuosic George Burton. This eclectic lineup promises an unforgettable journey through the diverse landscapes of jazz and its evolving influences.

Newly confirmed artists joining the BRIC JazzFest 2023 lineup include world renowned jazz and contemporary bassist Reggie Workman; vibrant and jazz saxophone and woodwind artist Alexa Tarantino; multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer Cisco Swank; Jonathan Michel: L’Ouverture in a world premiere concert featuring Emeline Michel, Riva Precil, and Val Jeanty, celebrating the vital role of Haitian women in music and culture; vocalist and composer, Sarah Elizabeth Charles; Nite Bjuti feat. Candice Hoyes, Val Jeanty and Mimi Jones trio of Afro-Caribbean artists using a blend of electronics, vocalism, bass, Haitian drum rhythms, sampling, and spoken word; Strings N Skins (Friday, 10/20), a band comprised of Haitian vocalist and percussionist Okai, Colombian vocalist, dancer, and Latin Grammy Award-winning violinist, Luisa “Lulu” Bastidas, alongside drummer and producer Lautaro Burgos and keyboard guru and producer Eric Lane; and Panikkar Rosner & Leigh Thursday, 10/19), a bebop and post-bop centric jazz octet featuring three vocalists in the instrumental vocal style of Lambert Hendricks & Ross.
