On February 20th, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 8:30 pm, NYC Emergency Management, in partnership with the NYPD, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the New York Fire Department, will hold introductory safety and preparedness training for places of worship at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, NY.
These abbreviated trainings aim to increase engagement with faith communities by encouraging attendees to partner with the above agencies for more comprehensive training for their individual places of worship, both in person and virtually.
The event will cover vital safety and preparedness information such as:
- Individual and community safety measures
- “Active shooter” and other disruption mitigation strategies for houses of worship
- Reducing the risk of flood damage to homes, places of worship, businesses, and communities
- Making a “Go Bag” for when you must evacuate
- Emergency Medical Services, including CPR and AED training
- Fire prevention and extinguishing techniques
- And more…
