Attend this training and learn how to master the art of approaching conversations with younger community members who are misusing substances.  Discover new ways to prepare yourself.   Join us to transform how you approach difficult conversations with younger community members.  Get ready for an enlightening experience that will equip you with the tools to make a difference. Our expert instructor is Bishop Edward J. Williams, D Min, LMSW, MA.  He has been a professional mental health practitioner for over 30 years.  In addition to providing psychotherapy (including substance abuse counseling and mediation services), he is an advocate of transformation of community through social justice.

 

Preparing for an Emergency- Dr. Mecca Nelson (Instructor)

September 21, 2024 – 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

  • Learn lifesaving skills such as how to recognize an opioid overdose, give naloxone, perform CPR, use an AED (automated external defibrillator) and control life-threatening bleeding.

Opioid overdoses are one of the leading causes of cardiac arrest for adults in the USA. One important thing that people can do is learn how to help save a life. This training focuses on lifesaving skills. Participants will learn how to recognize an opioid overdose, give naloxone, perform CPR, use an AED (automated external defibrillator) and control life-threatening bleeding. Our expert instructor is Dr. Mecca Nelson. She is actively involved in providing valuable lifesaving skills training to individuals through her collaboration with the American Red Cross. She passionately trains individuals in CPR, first aid and the operation of AED devices. She also facilitates basic life support trainings designed to prepare individuals to respond effectively in emergency situations.
